This article argues that a category of proof is missing from an industry, not that any specific provider is fraudulent. Where we describe our own attestation chain, remember its stated limits: it proves timing and integrity, never quality, and our record is young. Nothing here is investment advice. Decisions are yours.
An attested track record is one whose every entry can be proven, by an outsider, to have been published before its outcome was knowable and never altered since. The technology costs approximately nothing and has existed for years. Almost no one selling crypto signals has one. Those three sentences, taken together, are the most important due-diligence fact in this market, and this article unpacks why.
What "attested" means in practice
Precision first, because the word gets abused. A track record is attested when it has three properties an outsider can check without trusting the publisher. Pre-commitment: each entry's cryptographic hash was published to an append-only public log at the claimed time, so backdating is impossible. Integrity: the revealed entries hash to exactly the committed fingerprints, so nothing was edited or deleted afterward. Independent timing: the commitments are anchored to a clock the publisher does not control, in practice the Bitcoin blockchain via OpenTimestamps, so even the log's timestamps need no trust. The full mechanics, including what the scheme cannot prove, are in the attestation explainer. Note what is not required: no auditor, no regulator, no notary, no fee. A shell script and a public repository clear the bar.
The near-misses that already exist
Three things in the market approach attestation without reaching it, and the gaps are instructive. Exchange copy-trading records are venue-computed from real fills, genuinely tamper-resistant, but they attest execution, not publication: they cannot prove a signal was published to subscribers at a time, only that the leader's own account traded, and the surrounding leaderboard machinery introduces its own distortions. On-chain vaults and funds settle performance transparently on public ledgers, real attestation of results, but the category is execution infrastructure rather than published research, and its strategies are as opaque as anyone's. Third-party signal trackers, services that log providers' calls in real time, add valuable independent observation but inherit their own trust problem: you must now believe the tracker's completeness and timestamps instead of the provider's. Each near-miss solves a piece. None gives a research publisher's full claim, "this exact call, this exact timestamp, nothing deleted since," which is the claim commit-reveal was built for.
The zero-cost argument, run honestly
Steelman the absence first, because the argument matters more if it survives contact with the excuses. "It's technical overhead": hashing a file and pushing to a public repository is an afternoon of setup and pennies of ongoing cost; our own chain runs on a scheduled script. "Subscribers don't ask for it": true, and circular, since the industry spends heavily teaching subscribers to accept screenshots instead. "It would expose our strategy": false by construction, commit-reveal publishes hashes at commit time and content only on the schedule the publisher chooses; the strategy is exactly as secret as before, only the record becomes honest. "Nobody else does it": correct, and that is a pricing signal about the industry, not a defense. Every excuse dissolves under five minutes of scrutiny, which leaves the real explanation standing: an editable history is worth more to most sellers than a checkable one, because the editable history can be curated, which is how a 95% win rate gets built, and the checkable one can only be earned.
Absence as information
This is the practical payoff for a reader. When verification costs nothing, every provider's level of checkability is a choice, and choices reveal. A provider with real results gains everything from attestation: differentiation in a market of fakes, compounding trust, immunity from the accusation that poisons the whole category. A provider with manufactured results loses everything by it. So the market sorts itself: the honest have every incentive to adopt proof, the dishonest have every incentive to explain why proof is unnecessary, and the persistent near-total absence of attestation across the crypto signal industry tells you what the equilibrium is made of. You do not need to litigate any individual's honesty. You can simply price the choice they made: run it through the seven checks, where an editable history fails the first and heaviest check.
What an attested record still doesn't prove
Guard against the inverse error, because attestation marketing will eventually arrive and it will be oversold. A perfect chain proves the record is real, not that it is good: attested mediocrity is still mediocrity, and attested recklessness is still recklessness with a timestamp. It also proves both without anyone knowing who ran it, leaving the anonymity question exactly where it was. Quality requires the separate machinery, benchmarks against the regime, expectancy net of costs, records spanning a winter, the window that separates skill from bull-market genius. Nor can attestation reach backward: a chain started today proves nothing about last year, which is why ours began on this site's first day, before there was anything to brag about. The correct reading of an attested record is not "this provider is skilled" but "this provider has made lying expensive for themselves," which is the precondition for every other judgment, not the conclusion of them.
How to demand one
The request fits in one message, and we encourage sending it verbatim to anyone selling you foresight: "Please point me to a public, append-only log of every call you have published, with cryptographic commitments at publication time and independent timestamps, including the losers." Then observe. A provider who has one will answer with a link in one line. A provider who plans to will name a date, which is worth something. A provider who answers with screenshots, testimonials, win rates, or an explanation of why proof is impractical has answered a different question, the only one that matters, and answered it completely. Our own chain, limits and all, is documented and verifiable in minutes; the day this industry's famous names publish theirs, this page will celebrate them by name. The tools are free. The silence is chosen. Decisions are yours.
